During the hearing, Mr. Neier commended the significant progress made by the APD in achieving full compliance with the court-ordered consent decree.  He highlighted the collaborative efforts of EFIT,  APD, DOJ, USAO, IMT, and community groups in transforming the department into one that upholds the constitution while effectively enforcing the law.

“I am honored to have served as the EFIT Administrator these past three years,” said Mr. Neier. “We've worked alongside dedicated professionals from APD, DOJ, USAO, IMT, and community groups, all united in the goal of transforming APD into a model for constitutional policing.”

Looking ahead, Mr. Neier emphasized the importance of continued vigilance to ensure the department's reform efforts are sustained as oversight diminishes. He stressed the need for ongoing collaboration between the APD and the community to build trust and enhance public safety.

“As APD moves forward,” Mr. Neier concluded, “it's crucial to consider the community's vision for policing and their priorities.  The community, in turn, needs to consider how it can  assist and cooperate with the police to fight crime, share information, and work together to create a safer environment for all.”
